First call to triage

Before you call

Have these five things ready, if you can:

  1. How many weeks pregnant she is.
  2. What is worrying her most right now.
  3. What has changed for her and when it started.
  4. The baby's movements, including whether they feel normal, reduced, changed or stopped.
  5. Her name, NHS or hospital number if she has it, and where she is planning to give birth.

If you cannot find your NHS or hospital number, still call. They can usually identify you from your name, date of birth and address.

You do not need to have everything ready before calling. If you are worried, call first. You can find details while you are on the phone.
