Birth can change quickly, and things may not always go as expected. That is why we call this birth preferences, not a fixed birth plan.
Your preferences help you think through what matters to you and make those wishes known to your maternity team. The team will do their best to accommodate what they can, where it is safe, possible and appropriate.
If plans need to change, you still deserve clear explanations, kindness and support.
